NYも春めいてきましたね。去年に引き続きNYで活躍中の美術家ニイゼキヒロミさんと一緒に春のおとずれを楽しみませんか。
今年の春のプレイデートでは「ガムハーツ・プロジェクトx BJAFA キッズ」をBJAFA コミュニティー・ガーデンで行います。

このイベントでは、ガムの代わりにいろんな色や匂いの小麦粉粘土を体を使って踏んだり潰したりしてニイゼキヒロミさんと一緒に偶然の形について考えてみよう。
どんな形ができるかな？ハートの形になったら写真をとってみよう。飾ってみよう。

当日はニイゼキヒロミさんの「$5のアート」シリーズ から”GumHearts” 偶然ハート型だったガム写真のタトゥーシールを販売、収益は福島の非営利団体へ寄付されます。

GumHearts x BJAFA Spring Playdate and Art Activity with Hiromi Niizeki
at Heaven’s Gate Community Garden

Participatory Art Making with handmade flour play dough

GumHearts is one of the subjects that our NY based artist, Hiromi Niizeki has focused on for years. Lying with remnants of slimy saliva, no one wants to touch them. GumHearts are unknowingly created when stepped on by strangers. They seem out of control as their shape and color changes with the weather and time. She couldn’t ignore this piece of urban nature.

We will use handmade flour play dough,  step on it or punch it in pocket to make any shapes by accident.

When it becomes a heart shape, then take pictures and decorate it on a tile.

Hiromi Niizeki will also have booth at the gaden  called ‘$5 tattoo series’ of GumHearts. Part of the profit will go to Fukushima Pref. Not-for-profit Organization as donation.

Documenting found objects on the streets using cellphone camera, to me, became the reality of art　making in 2009, when I discovered my new cellphone camera was technically capable of capturing　closeup images. As a mother of a young child, finding artistic motivation and possible time on the　streets was definitely essential. Also, as a long term freelance teaching artist, traveling all over NYC　was day to day necessity. This offered me both motivation(keeping my art alive) and opportunity(my　daily travels all over the five boroughs).

ニイゼキヒロミ　ガムハーツプロジェクト

移動の多いニューヨーク市複数校で教える仕事と、育児で疲れきっていた頃、よく下を向いて歩いていた。　現実逃避の為に不可欠だった音楽を聴く道具でもあった携帯電話は、２００９年にカメラ質向上で、接写可能になり、路上に落ちている物を写真でドキュメントし始めた。

ガムハートは、路上ドキュメント物の一テーマ。私の感覚では、他人の唾液に塗れ不特定多数に踏まれ意図されずに出来たからこそ，　どうにか許容出来る形。
